The Elephant Man is an account of the physically deformed John Merrick, and his struggle to live with his deformities. He is aided by Frederick Teves, an up and coming surgeon, who desires to help Merrick in any way he can. Merrick, with the help of Teves, the manager of a freak show, a bishop, an actress, and her high society friends, deals with life, religion, and what it means to live in this difficult world, where we all have our own deformities.
